A typical vocal lesson will entail various warm ups and technique exercises designed to focus on vowel placement, breathing techniques, proper diction, language development and general musicality.
Each lesson will help the student take pressure off the larynx and use proper breathing techniques to support the voice, give even tone and help bridge breaks in the voice (passagi). Instruction in proper vowel placement will create vocal clarity, evenness of sound and ease in creation of that sound.
The lesson begins with vocalization and technique followed by learning various repertoire wherein the technique is applied.
Voice lessons have been shown to grow confidence, improve speaking voice, develop breath control and gain skills in communication. There are also therapeutic benefits: Provides a healthy outlet for emotions and stress, offers a sense of accomplishment, can help in rehabilitation when vocal damage has occurred.
